Rhythm game devlog- Oct 22


I continued my OSU clone on google slides. I was able to replicate the video's timed circles to click but I the difference between powerpoint and slides has caught up to me as I could not reach far with replicating the video.

So i ditched the slides OSU game.

I went back to godot and tried to create my own version of geometry dash, an auto runner with a jumping cube, but the difference is that the jumps need to be timed with the song, just like the rhythm game "Muse Dash", an auto runner where the player times the button presses on the obstacles.

After many profanity filled hours coding, watching tutorials, using chatgpt, I logged off out of frustration. After revisiting my file after a few hours, the game somehow works the way i intended, the playable character is automatically moving to the right, the music is playing exactly how I wanted it to, and the obstacles that makes the player restart in position works as intended.

I then carefully placed the first few jumps  when the song plays a chord

I used an 8bit remix of "God Shattering Star", the final map theme of the Golden Deer route from Fire Emblem: Three Houses since there are a few chords in the intro song that would not be that hard to time the obstacles in the game.
